#EGU19 program is ready! Are you ready for it?

#EGU19 program is ready! Are you ready for it?

The next EGU’s General Assembly is taking place in one week! We bet you already started planning your program for the week, that Natural Hazard (NH) sessions are included, and, especially if you are an Early Career Scientist (ECS), you have found many sessions and courses targeting your specific needs and interests.

What fits more to your interests: Attend talks and posters, learn and improve skills, or take an active role in a serious game? Or maybe a mix of all of them? To get to the point, the Natural hazards Early Career scientist Team (NhET) is organizing 3 sessions and 4 short courses during the General Assembly that you can find in the NH division program. Let’s have a look at them! And remember that the conference last until Friday, and that we have interesting activities to convince you remaining at the conference until the very last minute!

Before presenting the program, we would like to invite all ECS to become an active part of NhET and help us organising these activities also in the future. If you have ideas for new sessions or short courses to be proposed at next year’s conference or if you want to help us in the ones already proposed this year, please contact us!

This reception, with drinks and light snacks, aims to bring together ECS, award-winning researchers, members of the Union Council, and selected industry partners. The aim is all for participants to interact and establish connections in an informal setting. Be aware that this event is by registration only and works on a first comes first served basis until a maximum number of participants is reached. The registration is available at the following link: https://www.egu.eu/forms/egu-ECS-medallist-reception-2019/.

UPDATE: We are sorry to inform that at the moment there are no more available spaces for this event, but keep an eye on EGU’s social media for possible updates.

Don’t miss the EGU Early Career Scientists’ Forum Wed, 10 Apr, 12:45-13:45, Room L2. This forum is a chance to learn about the changes implemented since the last General Assembly, how to get involved with the EGU and to provide feedback.

The Great Debate on How can Early Career Scientists prioritise their mental wellbeing? will take place Thu, 11 Apr, 19:00-20:30, Room E1.

As you can see, the activities are varied and we hope we have moved your interest and curiosity to attend one, some or all of them. We are looking forward to seeing and meeting you at these events.

I have a bachelor in GIS and Remote Sensing and a master and a PhD in Environmental Sciences. Since several years, I work in the field of Climate Change and Risk assessment. I worked with the University of Venice and the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change, while travelling across the world, from China to Ecuador. For three years, I have been working in Norway, first as postdoc at the University of Oslo, and now as researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research. My research focus is now mainly on climate change and forestry. I think that one of the most positive aspect of being a researcher is meet and cooperate with many people; therefore, I strongly believe networking initiatives are particularly useful. I am one of the founder of NhET and I think the Blog will be a great channel to engage more ECS - and more experienced researcher as well - working on Natural Hazard.
