Geodynamics

edited by Zhibin Lei

Hi, I'm Lei. I use numerical modelling methods to gain understanding of plate weakening processes, e.g., subduction zones, continental breakup, continental marginal magmatism etc. I am enthusiastic in investigating the interaction between lithosphere and mantle flow underneath. Geoscience nourishes my global view, which drives me with a strong curiosity to explore and understand the different cultures, histories and especially the food!! You can find more about me at https://zhibinlei.github.io/, Twitter @Lei_geodynamics and reach me via email (leiz2@cardiff.ac.uk).

Meet the blog illustrators: Vojta Hýbl

Vojta Hýbl from the blog illustration team (photo taken by India Hunkin). Spreading research news to a broad audience is important but difficult work for scientists. Luckily, we have an amazing illustration team who are happy to share their artistic creation. Their artwork has helped us expand the readership and made our blogs increasingly popular. This week, I am excited to introduce Vojta Hýbl f ...[Read More]

G-ADOPT: a next generation computational modelling framework for geodynamics

Schematic illustrating core components of G-ADOPT, an Australian based cross-NCRIS project, principally developed at the Australian National University (ANU), with partners at the University of Sydney and Imperial College London. G-ADOPT is supported by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), with co-investment from AuScope, the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) and Geosciences Aust ...[Read More]

101 about Ada Lovelace Workshop on Modelling of Mantle and Lithosphere Dynamics

2022 Ada Lovelace Workshop on Numerical Modelling of Mantle and Lithosphere Dynamics is finally coming! Have you got started packing for travelling to Hungary? I got you something to read about on your way to the workshop. Who is Ada Lovelace? The workshop, previously known as the ‘International Workshops on Mantle and Lithosphere Dynamics’, was renamed in 2018 by the EGU Topical Events Committee ...[Read More]
