Nonlinear Processes in Geosciences

Mireia Ginesta-Fernandez

I am a PhD student at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (LSCE), as part of the EDIPI project (https://edipi-itn.eu/). My research interest is focused on understanding the impact of climate change on extreme weather events, specially on the wet and windy events. Currently, I am working on the attribution of severe extratropical cyclones affecting Europe to climate change.

Interviews with Women in Nonlinear Processes in Geosciences: Exploring Inspiration and Challenges

In celebration of Women in Science day, we delve into the experiences and insights of five accomplished women scientists in the field of Nonlinear Processes in Geosciences: Prof. Bérengère Dubrulle, Dr. Vera Melinda Galfi, Dr. Giorgia di Capua, Dr. Meriem Krouma, and Anupama K Xavier. Through a series of interviews, these women share their journeys, addressing challenges faced as women in science, ...[Read More]

Extratropical cyclones play a key role in modulating the precipitation and wind in mid-latitudes and can be responsible for extreme wet and windy events. With global warming, the dynamics and thermodynamics associated with these atmospheric systems are being affected. However, due to the complexity of modelling the climate system, a challenge arises when evaluating the influence that climate chang ...[Read More]
