Vojtěch Patočka

Vojtěch Patočka is an assistant professor at the Department of Geophysics at the Charles University in Prague. He teaches continuum mechanics and is interested in several topics in planetary science, ranging from particle-laden flows, the dynamics of polar motion and effusive cryovolcanism, to mantle convection models and their surface expressions. His first Ada Lovelace Workshop was the one in Olerons, 2015, where he sprained his ankle and realized that academic path is worth pursuing.

Ada Lovelace’s spirit at Lake Seč

From 21 to 26 June, the 2026 Ada Lovelace Workshop on Modelling of Mantle and Lithosphere Dynamics brought together the geodynamics community in Seč, Czech Republic. In this week’s blog post, Vojtěch Patočka, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geophysics at Charles University in Prague and a member of the organising committee, offers an offbeat take on the workshop. Every two years, a ...[Read More]
