Elias Symeonakis

Elias Symeonakis' research focuses on Remote Sensing of Land Degradation. It is driven by the desire to combine state-of-the-art Earth Observation technologies, AI algorithms and open access data to derive impactful products that can guide the development of mitigation strategies, especially in countries where resources are scarce. He provides valuable input to policymakers at the local, regional and national scales, reviews intergovernmental panel reports, presents evidence to UN meetings and makes recommendations to support the SDGs.
