Pictures of Medalists from Monday at EGU GA 2011

The Christiaan Huygens Medal is presented to Martin Hürlimann for his outstanding work in innovative instrumentation and analysis methods in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance to characterize fluid saturated porous media with geophysical application to sub-surface measurements.

The Julius Bartels Medal is presented to Hermann Lühr for his leadership roles in ground and space magnetometry in Europe, in particular as Principal Investigator of the magnetic field investigation of the CHAMP mission that has yielded much new information on a wide range of terrestrial magnetic phenomena.

The Hans Oeschger Medal is presented to Robert Delmas for his seminal contributions to ice core glaciochemistry and his pioneering research on reconstructing changes in the composition of the atmosphere.

Bárbara Ferreira was the Media and Communications Manager of the European Geosciences Union from 2011 to 2019. Bárbara has also worked as a science writer specialising in astrophysics and space sciences, producing articles for the European Space Agency and others on a freelance basis. She has a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Cambridge.
