Get Connected at EGU25: Solar Terrestrial (ST)-Early Career Scientist (ECS) Events You Don’t Want to Miss!

The EGU General Assembly 2025 is just around the corner, and the Solar-Terrestrial (ST) Early-Career Scientist (ECS) Team has been working hard to create opportunities for networking, connection, and community building throughout the week.

We’ve lined up a series of informal, fun, and welcoming events designed to help ECSs meet peers, share experiences, and make the most out of EGU25. Mark your calendars and come say hi — we’d love to meet you and have a chat! We’d also be thrilled to hear if you’re interested in joining the ST ECS Team.

1. ST-ECS Drinks: Pre-GA Icebreaker

Kick off EGU25 by meeting fellow ECSs before the official opening reception. We’ll gather outside the badge area at 15:00, then head to Copa Beach for a relaxed get-together before the opening reception (if the weather plays nice!). Feel free to bring drinks, snacks, and your sunny vibes – drinks are also sold at Copa Beach. Later, we’ll head together to the Opening Reception.

Come say hi and kick off the week with new connections!

2. ST-ECS Picnic / Meet the Experts

  • Location: Donaupark (weather permitting) or Terrace G (Purple level, EGU Networking Zone)
  • Date: Monday, 28 April
  • Time: 12:30 – 13:45 CEST
  • Meeting Point: X4 Foyer

Join us for a casual lunch with the ST-ECS community! Meet fellow early-career scientists, share tips for the week ahead, and chat informally with invited experts from across the ST Division.

If the weather is good, we’ll head to nearby Donaupark, otherwise, we’ll stay indoors in the networking zone. Bring your own lunch (and a picnic mat if you plan to sit on the grass!).

We’ll meet at the X4 foyer at 12:30 – look out for the ST-ECS sign!

3. Meet the ST Division ECS and Communications Team

  • Location: EGU Booth, Hall X2
  • Date: Monday, 28 April
  • Time: 15:00 – 16:00 CEST

Join us for a casual meeting with the ST-ECS community and the Communication Team. This is your chance to connect, share your ideas, and shape the future of our ECS Networking activities. Whether you have suggestions for new initiatives or want to get more involved, this is the perfect opportunity to engage.

We’re also looking for enthusiastic individuals to nominate themselves and join the ST-ECS Team!

What’s more? There is coffee, tea, and some cookies available as we chat and collaborate.

4. ST-ECS Dinner

Enjoy an evening of food and conversation with fellow ECSs and ST researchers! We’ll meet at the X4 foyer at 18:15 and head to the city together for dinner.

Stay Connected All Week!

Throughout the General Assembly week, we encourage you to join the ST-ECS Slack workspace to chat with peers, share your science, ask questions, and stay updated. If you’re not part of the Slack yet, just email to ecs@egu.eu and we’ll get you added. Please, add in the subject “access to ST-ECS Slack”.

We’ll also post daily updates highlighting ST Division and ECS-relevant sessions on Slack to help you plan your schedule for the next day.

We’re excited to welcome you to Vienna and to the Solar-Terrestrial ECS community. Let’s make EGU25 a memorable and inspiring experience together!

See you soon,
The ST-ECS Team
