EGU Campfire Geodesy – Share Your Research – Ninth Edition

We are excited to announce the 9th edition of Geodesy Campfire – Share Your Research in November. The Geodesy EGU Campfire Events “Share Your Research” give (early career) researchers the chance to talk about their work.We have two exciting talks by our guest speakers Roland Hohensinn and Bjarke Nilsson. Below you can find the details of the topics awaiting us. We will have time to network after the presentations.

Please join us on Zoom on November 21  from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CET). Register for this webinar here.

Roland Hohensinn @ International Space Science Institute (ISSI), Bern, Switzerland, presents :

Global groundwater trends as observed from the GRACE G3P product

After earning a degree in Geodesy and Geophysics from TU Vienna, Roland completed a PhD at ETH Zurich in 2019, where his research focused on detecting natural hazards using GPS. Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow, he is investigating global water storage variations from GRACE satellite data and vertical land motion from GPS measurements at the International Space Science Institute in Bern and the University of California, San Diego.

Bjarke Nilsson @ Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Denmark, presents:

High Resolution Marine Geodesy from Satellite Altimetry

Bjarke is currently doing a PhD on marine geodesy, with a focus on satellite altimetry, at DTU Space at the Technical University of Denmark. The main goal of the PhD is to improve the resolution of current geodetic reference surfaces, such as the mean sea surface, bathymetry, and marine gravity, by utilizing new data and models. He graduated last year with a MSC from DTU in Earth Observations.

We are always looking for speakers for the next Geodesy EGU Campfire Events “Share Your Research”. Are you interested in giving a talk, then please express your interest by filling out the form:

If you have any questions about the Geodesy EGU Campfire Event, please contact the Geodesy ECS Team via ecs-g@egu.eu.

We look forward to seeing you at the Campfire!

Barbara is a PhD student at the Technical University of Denmark. She is working on using satellite gravimetry data to study ice mass changes and is involved in a simulation study for a quantum gravimeter in space.

Marius is a PhD student at the chair for Astronomical and Physical Geodesy at Technical University of Munich. He is working on long-term simulations of gravity field recovery from satellite gravity missions. His focus is on time variable gravity field, developing processing strategies such as long-term trend estimation for climate applications.
