Climate: Past, Present & Future

Dr. Kaja Fenn

My research is focused on applying geochronology and geochemistry to understand the timing, distribution, sources of loess sequences and their links to climate. I am also interested in a continental scale sediment generation processes and their drivers. Find out more at www.kajafenn.com. I have a BSc from the University of the West of England, MSc from the Royal Holloway, University of London, and a PhD from the University of Oxford.

LOESS IN TRANSLATION

Loess is a mineral, aeolian deposit with a range of definitions in literature, which class it as either a sediment, soil, or rock. Some classic texts suggest that “loess is not just the accumulation of dust” [1], and it must include additional processes such as loessification, calcification, pedogenesis, and in-situ weathering. The definition adopted depends on the scientific background and the qu ...[Read More]
