Geology for Global Development

Get Involved: Guest Blogs

We love the fact that our blog can be a forum for many different people to share their expertise and ideas. Our guest blogs are always very popular, giving people access to a much wider range of knowledge and opinion that just one or two authors can provide! We have had some great blogs from students, academics and professionals, from the UK and overseas.

We would love to have more guest blogs, profiling case studies, news reports, journal articles, training opportunities and much more. This is a great way to get involved in our work and to develop your science communication skills. These skills are fundamental to any geologist wanting to work in international development. As development requires an interdisciplinary approach, participating geologists must be able to communicate to other disciplines, other cultures, and to local communities themselves. Learning to write clearly and effectively is one aspect of this communication.

If you’re thinking of submitting a post, there is a great reason to do this soon! All posts submitted before 27th January (two weeks time) will be entered into a special competition to win one of three sets of these brilliant Volcanoes Top Trumps cards.

Articles should be approximately 600 words, with appropriate referencing/images. Please email them to competition@gfgd.org. Winners (selected based on originality of article and clarity of writing) will be notified by email.
