EGU25 Tuesday Highlights

EGU25 Tuesday Highlights

Get ready for the second day of the EGU General Assembly! Here is a quick summary of the day for GMPV sessions or joint sessions you can attend: either you are interested in fluid/melt-rock interactions, sedimentary provenance analysis, volcanic hazards, orogenes, subduction zones or continental rifts, you are sure to find what you are looking for!

Morning sessions

From 8.30 to 12.30 am, you can start your day with two oral sessions on GMPV5.1 Mineral deposits: systems, settings, processes or TS2.1/GMPV4 Continental rift evolution: from inception to break-up. Two poster sessions are also in attendance on GMPV2.2 Rock microstructures (10.45 – 12.30) and GMPV4.4 Early Earth Evolution (10.45 – 12.30).

Lunch Time

Don’t forget to attend the Mentor/Mentee Meet-up on the Rooftop Foyer (12.45 – 13.45) or the Arthur Holmes Medal Lecture by Paul Tackley in room E1 (12.50 – 13.35)!

Afternoon sessions

Buckle up for a full afternoon of great sessions!

From 14.00 to 15.45, the afternoon will start with oral sessions on GMPV5.3 Metal mobilization during fluid-rock interactions, NH2.3/GMPV9 Forecasting volcanic hazards, TS2.1/GMPV4 Continental rift evolution: from inception to break-up, GD9.1/GMPV4 Alpine orogenic belt and ERE4.6/GMPV5 The life cycle of pyrite! You can also go to the poster sessions on EOS4.8 BUGS: Blunders, Unexpected Glitches, and Surprises in our scientific journeys, and how to learn from them, on GMPV1.1 Fluid-rock interaction, deformation and metamorphism, or GMPV4.3 The role of melts and fluids in global volatile cycles.

Later on, from 16.15 to 18.00, you can attend a Great Debate at the heart of recent events, and one of the major challenges our scientific community is facing: GDB4 Will a paradigm shift from on-shore to off-shore mining serve the future of humanity? You can also attend oral sessions on GMPV1.3 Sedimentary provenance analysis, on EOS4.8 BUGS, GD2.2/GMPV7 Melt/fluid-rock interactions within the mantle and the crust, and NH2.8/GMPV4 Subduction Zone observation. Three poster sessions also wait for you on GD5.3/GMPV3 Magmatic, hydrothermal and tectonic processes at mid-oceanic ridges and transform faults, ERE4.6/GMPV5 The life cycle of pyrite, and how Earth Sciences support GD6.1/GMPV6 the energy transition.

Evening events

Last but not least in your GA experience, join us for two major GMPV events today: First, the ECS Networking Reception at the Rooftop Foyer at 18.00, and then the long awaited GMPV Social Dinner at 19.00 (upon previous registration)! Are you ready for some Tango Argentino Beginner Class?

Have a great day in Vienna!
