The Geodesy EGU Campfire Events “Share Your Research” give (early career) researchers the chance to talk about their work. We have two exciting talks by our guest speakers, Saqib Mehdi and Laura Giaccio. Below, you can find the details of the topics awaiting us. We will have time to network after the presentations.

Saqib Mehdi @Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Poland:
GNSS Troposphere Sensing in Multipath Environments.
Saqib Mehdi is a PhD researcher at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Poland. His research focuses on GNSS Precise Point Positioning, tropospheric sensing, and signal propagation in dense urban environments. He develops 3D ray-tracing-assisted methods to identify and mitigate LOS, reflected, diffracted, multipath, and NLOS signals, with particular emphasis on reliable atmospheric sensing using GNSS receivers in challenging multipath environments such as urban canyons. His recent work has been published in GPS Solutions and IEEE JSTARS, including “Ray-Tracing-Based Multipath Classification and Adaptive Satellite Selection for Improved Tropospheric Estimation” (DOI: 10.1109/JSTARS.2026.3697547).
Laura Giaccio @Sapienza University of Rome, Italy:
A robust InSAR based workflow for geodynamic signal extraction: tectonic strain analysis in the Irpinia region.
Laura Giaccio is a PhD candidate in Earth Observation at Sapienza University of Rome. She started her PhD in 2023, after completing an MSc in Environmental Engineering. Her research focuses on using InSAR and GNSS for wide-area analyses, applying these techniques to case studies in subsidence and tectonics while addressing the challenges posed by working with large spatial scales.

After the presentations, we invite everyone in the audience to turn on their camera and microphones, if possible. Participation via the chat is of course also possible. We will start with a short introduction round to get an idea of who is in the room. So if you like to, you can already think about how to summarise your research in a few words so that mortals can also understand it! We’re also open to hear about your favourite dinosaur, your latest burnout, or the 4th element on your tasks list today. Just be there and be talking, we guarantee for the awkwardness.
