Lily Thompson is an MPhil Student at the University of Cambridge, UK. She investigates the ways in which we define the Arctic as a region, analysing the future relevance of physical environmental boundaries and assessing the implications of new emerging political definitions. Selecting to use different Arctic definitions has far-reaching consequences for national policy documents and Arctic stakeholders, as well as critical significance for the environmental and geopolitical future of the Arctic region under ongoing climate change.
