EGU GMPV ECS Campfires – Thursday November 21st @ 4pm CET

The second edition of the Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology and Volcanology Campfires of the 2024/2025 season is right at the door and will take place on Thursday November 21st at 4 pm CET on Zoom.

This edition will be a Scientific Campfire, during which four Early Career Scientists will present their latest work to the community. 

Our speakers for this edition are: 

 

 

Kevin Wong, PostDoc @ University of Bologna, Italy on:

“Rapid crustal transit of magmas in the Main Ethiopian Rift from olivine diffusion chronometry”

 

 

 

Ahmed Morad, PhD candidate @ RWTH Aachen University, Germany on:

“Gold exploration in shield terrains can be challenging: Insights from a tricky gold prospect in the Egyptian part of the Arabian Nubian Shield”

 

 

 

Andrea Maffeis, PostDoc @ University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy on:

“Sulfur disproportionation in deep COHS slab fluids incites fast mantle wedge oxidation”

 

 

 

Alessandro Petroccia, PostDoc @ University of Bologna, Italy on:

“Hidden beauty: approaches, limitations and potentialities of metamorphic estimates of low-grade metapelites”
