Julius Jara-Muñoz

Julius Jara-Muñoz is Professor of Engineering Geology at the University of Applied Sciences Biberach (Hochschule Biberach), Germany. Originally from Chile, he gained extensive experience as a field geologist in engineering projects and mineral exploration before transitioning to academia. His research centers on surface deformation processes in tectonically active regions, with a particular focus on coastal areas and the use of geomorphic markers to understand deformation mechanisms. He is the lead developer of TerraceM, a widely used open-source tool for analyzing marine and lacustrine terraces using high-resolution topography. His mission is to advance reproducible science in tectonic geomorphology and make it accessible to researchers worldwide.
