Call for nominations: R.A. Bagnold medal and Outstanding Early-Career Scientist Award

Today I would like to draw your attention to the EGU Awards and Medals programme of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for the year 2016, which is now open for nominations. The Geomorphology Division awards the Ralph Alger Bagnold medal to individuals in recognition of their outstanding scientific contribution to the study of geomorphology: http://www.egu.eu/awards-medals/ralph-alger-bagnold/

The Division also awards an Outstanding Early-Career Scientist (formerly “Young Scientist”) award to recognise remarkable scientific achievements in the field of geomorphology by an early-career scientist.The ultimate deadline for nomination submission is 15 June, 2015. The awards and medals will be presented at the EGU General Assembly 2016 in Vienna. Nominations for all the medals and awards are to be submitted by using the online form: http://www.egu.eu/login/?next=/user-area/nominations/form/

Jan Blöthe is Assistant Professor for Geomorphology and Morphodynamics at the University of Freiburg, Germany. His primary research interests are in the field of sediment dynamics, periglacial geomorphology, natural hazards and geomorphometry. He worked on valley fills and large landslides in the Himalayas, rock glaciers in High Asia, the Andes and the Alps, and sediment dynamics in different high-mountain environments.
