EGU25 Monday Highlights

Hello to all the GMPV community, and welcome (back) to EGU25!

Are you ready to meet again you peers from all over the world, and to learn more about amazing scientific topics?

As every year, the GMPV ECS Team will find interesting presentations and networking events, and suggest them in a daily blog post.

Let’s start on Monday morning at 8.30 with the session “What makes Earth so special? The role of melts and fluids in global volatile cycles” (GMPV4.3), where the presentations aim to gather contributions in the broad spectrum of volatile cycles, with a focus on melts and fluids.

After the coffee break, it’s time for the session GMPV4.4 “Early Earth Evolution – New Frontiers in Archean Studies”, where you can also hear from our GMPV Division Outstanding ECS Award Lecture by Renée Jade Tamblyn at 12:00 in Room K1. Renée will talk about the “The Archean geological water cycle”, with a focus on the processes of hydration and dehydration of ultramafic to mafic rocks from Archean greenstone belts.

After the lunch break, at 14:00, why not to attend the session “Rock microstructure as a tool for understanding igneous and metamorphic processes”, where you can find interesting presentation, like the one of our Chief Campfire Organizer Marine Boulanger on “Deciphering the plutonic record at mid-ocean ridges: from crystal-scale processes to crustal-scale accretion”. The posters of this session will be on Tuesday 29th at 10:45 on site and at 14:00 on GatherTown.

In the afternoon, you can also have a look at the poster session of GMPV5.1 ”Mineral deposits: systems, settings, processes”, starting at 16:15. If you instead prefer an oral session, visit GMPV1.1, “Fluid-rock interaction, deformation and metamorphism: from serpentinization to orogenic processes”, where our Veronica Peverelli and other conveners will guide us into presentations on the dynamic interplay between fluids and rocks, from the mantle to orogenic belts.

Last but not least, you can choose to visit the PICO session GMPV7.1 on “Recent Advances in Computational Methods for Volcanic and Magmatic Studies” from 16:15 till 18:00.

After all this science, it can be nice to enjoy a moment with colleagues and engage during two different Networking events, the EDI Reception, at the Rooftop Foyer, or, if you are a First-time Attendee, go to the First-time Attendee Networking EGU networking zone – next to EGU booth (Hall X2).

Now, after this busy day, it’s time to rest and get ready for tomorrow! And enjoy the rest of #EGU25!
