Climate: Past, Present & Future

Ayşegül Ceren Moral

I am a PhD student based in Istanbul, Türkiye, researching climate change risks. My work focuses on using regional climate models and socio-economic data to understand how climate change affects communities and ecosystems. I have a background in meteorological engineering, and my curiosity about the climate system started long before my academic career — sparked by observing how weather shapes daily life. Over the years, this curiosity has evolved into a deep interest in translating scientific knowledge into meaningful action on climate adaptation and resilience. Through my research and writing, I aim to bridge the gap between data and stories — bringing the human side of climate change into focus. When I’m not analyzing data or running climate simulations, I enjoy travelling, reading science-fiction, and cross-stiching.

Türkiye’s Climate at a Crossroads

Climate change is often described as a challenge of the future. Yet through our latest work, we’ve realized the future is already unfolding across Türkiye’s landscapes and climates. The signs are visible in the shifting seasons, intensifying heatwaves, and changes in rainfall… As one of the authors of the study “High-Resolution Projections of Bioclimatic Variables in Türkiye: Emerging Patter ...[Read More]
